Long Beach approaches Angels about new stadium

Prolonged Beach, Calif. (AP) — Prolonged Beach officers have approached the Los Angeles Angels about building a downtown ballpark in the vicinity of the waterfront.

Prolonged Beach Mayor Robert Garcia explained to the Los Angeles Moments that conversations are “quite preliminary” and that they are discovering numerous choices for a 13-acre parking great deal adjacent to the convention middle.

The Angels opted out of their lease at Angel Stadium in Anaheim in October. The Anaheim Metropolis Council voted in January to lengthen the lease by 1 calendar year as a result of 2020. The two sides continue to investigate choices on remaining in Anaheim, but group President John Carpino stated in a assertion that they are discovering all choices for a new or renovated ballpark.

The Angels have also explored building a stadium in Los Angeles, Carson, Irvine and Tustin, but to no avail. Angel Stadium in Anaheim opened in 1966 and is the fourth-oldest ballpark in the significant leagues. The Angels have bought at minimum 3 million tickets in the 16 seasons since Arte Moreno purchased the group in 2003.
